God’s Places of Dwelling
Introduction. There is something special about
visiting a place where a notable figure in history lived (e.g. George
Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Elvis Pressley, Laura Ingalls Wilder—or biblical
personalities). This morning let’s consider some places in Scripture...
I.
Where God Was Said to Dwell...
A. Among the Israelites and in the tabernacle in the
wilderness (Exod. 29:38-45).
B. With Israel and in the temple in
Jerusalem (1 Kings 6:11-14).
C. In the flesh in Jesus Christ
(John 1:1-4, 14).
D. In the Lord’s church (1 Cor. 3:1-7, 16-17;
Eph. 2:19-22).
E. In the New Jerusalem (Rev.
21:2-3,22-24).
F. The Christian’s body (1 Cor.
6:18-20; Rom. 8:5; Eph. 3:17).
II.
This Emphasizes that we must glorify God in our body.
A. Flee sexual immorality (1 Cor. 6:18-20).
B. Do not let sin reign in your body
(Rom. 6:12-13).
C. Present your bodies as living
sacrifices (Rom. 12:1-2).
D. Put to death deeds of the body (Col. 3:5-7).
E. Put off the old man (Col.
3:8-11).
F. Put on the new (Col.
3:12-17).
