“Until the Coming of the Lord”

Introduction.  (James 5:7-8).  Note the phrase “until the coming of the Lord.”  In this lesson for a few moments we are going to consider a few things which the Bible says a person should do, until the coming of the Lord.

I. Be Patient (James 5:7-8).

II. Establish Your Heart (James 5:8).  “Establish” Gr. sterizo “1) to make stable, place firmly, set fast, fix; 2) to strengthen, make firm, 3) to render constant, confirm, one’s mind.”

III. Look for Day of the Lord (2 Peter 3:10-12).

IV. Hasten Day of the Lord (2 Peter 3:10-12).  “Hasten” Gr. speudo “desire eagerly.”

V. Proclaim Lord’s Death (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

VI. Complete His Good Work (Philippians 1:3-10).

VII. Be Sincere (Philippians 1:10). “Sincere” Gr. heilikrines from heile “the sun’s ray” – “1) pure, sincere, unsullied; 2) found pure when unfolded and examined by the sin’s light.”

VIII. Be Without Offense (Philippians 1:10).  Lit. “1) having nothing to strike against, not causing to stunble; 1a) of a smooth road; 1b) metaph. Of not leading others to sin by one’s mode of life.”

IX. Judge Nothing (1 Corinthians 4:2-5).

X. Keep His Commands (1 Timothy 6:13-14).

XI. Commit Our Souls to Lord (2 Timothy 1:12).

Conclusion.  One day Christ will return.  Are you ready for that day to come?
